easily convert anything to anything

Short Description:
A service that allows you to easily, through various interfaces, convert various
input file formats to various corresponding output file formats.

Full Description:
The idea is to make a service that owns file conversions and transcoding. With
various interfaces like web, email, API, etc, you can easily give it a file, say
what you want it back as, and get it back without complicated questions or
annoying parameters.

The web and API interface don’t need explanation, but the email interface is
important. You should be able to send an attached file and get an email back
with your transmutified file. This is how the original prototype worked, via
email only.

The idea is to try and support as many file types as possible. There are obvious
major groupings, like image formats, audio encodings, video encodings, but also
document formats like Word and HTML. This should be the anything to PDF service.

Rough ideas for business model include focusing on this wave of video popularity
to make Transmutify the ideal place to transcode user submitted video for your
service. Given high bandwidth connections between services, and us with a farm
of dedicated transcoding machines, it might actually be cost effective for some
people. Maybe. I don’t know.

As bandwidth in the home continues to increase, might we get to a point where
sending a huge file and getting it transcoded super fast and downloading it
again is faster than doing it locally? Probably not.

The real value of this service is the convenience, the intelligence making it
simple, and the fact that it can do almost anything. Oh well, maybe it just
needs ads.
